On Friday 2 October, businessman Edwin Sodi and his six co-accused were arrested and charged with corruption, money laundering and theft pertaining to a R255 million asbestos contract awarded to Sodi’s company, Blackhead Consulting.
The arrests and the successful asset forfeiture unit application granted by the High Court is a step in the right direction for the NPA in their fight against corruption in South Africa. Ulrich Roux provides insight in an interview on Afrika Newzroom.
